The President of India on a State Visit in Bulgaria

From 4 to 6 September, India's president, Ram Nath Kovind, is on a state visit in Bulgaria. He is accompanied by his wife, Savita Kovind, the presidential press secretary announced. The purpose of the visit is to talk about bilateral trade, economic and investment cooperation, cultural and educational exchanges, etc.

Today, at 10 am, at "St. Al. Nevski" Square in Sofia was the ceremony for the official welcoming of the delegation. The program of the visit, in addition to a "face to face" meeting between the presidents of both countries, includes plenary talks between official delegations as well as the signing of bilateral documents - "Science and Technology Cooperation Program for the period 2018-2021", "Memorandum for cooperation in the field of tourism and Memorandum of Understanding between the Indian Council for Cultural Relations and Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski“  for a guest professor of Hindi”.

Formal joint statements are expected before noon by Presidents Radev and Kovind and in the afternoon the president of India will give a lecture at the Sofia University on" Education as an instrument of change and general prosperity ".

On September 6, the presidents will open a monument to the leader of the Indian Independence Movement, Mahatma Gandhi, in Sofia and then visit the National History Museum on the occasion of the National Holiday of Bulgaria – The Unification of Bulgaria.
