Juncker: The EU is a Guarantor of Security

The European Commission’s President Jean-Claude Juncker said that the EU plans to send 10,000 more border guards to manage with unlawful immigration by 2020, BBC reported. The EU is a guarantor of security. We must embrace patriotism, but not one that interferes with others, commented he in his traditional speech before the new political season.

In his speech, he shared his opinion on various issues. He requested for strong leadership on Brexit and agreed that the future partnership should be a free trade area between the EU and the UK. He also said, “We want to find a solution that prevents a hard border in Northern Ireland”.

In terms of unemployment, Juncker commented that the youth unemployment is at 14.8%, which is still too high but is the lowest since 2000. He also announced that the clock changing must stop, and the Member States should themselves decide whether their citizens live in summer or wintertime.
