Borisov Will be Accompanied by Bulgarian Energy Chiefs During Visit to Russia

Key figures in Bulgaria’s energy field will accompany Prime Minister Boyko Borisov during his visit to Russia and the meeting with President Vladimir Putin on May 30-31.

The Minister of Energy, Temenuzhka Petkova and the executive director of the state firm “Bulgargaz”, Vladimir Malinov, will be part of the negotiations concerning joint energy projects between Russia and Bulgaria. The topic of the restarting of the “Belene NPP” is bound to be discussed during the visit.

The role of the Russian Rosatom is virtually assured in a potential new nuclear project.

The Bulgarian deputy PM Tomislav Donchev, the Minister of Finance, Vladislav Goranov, the Minister of Tourism, Nikolina Angelkova, and the Minister of Culture, Boyl Banov, will also be part of Borisov’s delegation to Russia. Besides the meetings with Russia’s government, the delegation will also visit representatives of the Bulgarian community in the country.

Borisov and Putin will meet “to discuss the upcoming cooperation between Bulgaria and Russia in the field of economy, energy, and tourism, as well as to discuss relevant international questions.”
