Bulgarian PM Receives Archbishop Anselmo Guido Pecorari

Bulgaria's Prime Minister Boyko Borisov met with the Roman Catholic archbishop Anselmo Guido Pecorari in Sofia, Bulgaria. The major topics of discussion during the meeting were the EU presidency of Bulgaria and the invitation Borisov gave to Pope Francis for visiting the country.

Earlier this year, Borisov visited the Vatican and was received by the Pope. Besides the invitation, the Bulgarian PM also gave Pope Francis several interesting gifts from Bulgaria. Borisov reminded Pecorari about the invitation during their meeting. He also stated that Bulgaria continues to work for integrating the Western Balkans into the EU and for peaceful dialogue and coexistence between all religions in the region.

Yesterday, the archbishop was received by Bulgaria's President Rumen Radev. There were also reports about a potential visit of Pope Francis to Bulgaria and the Balkans, however, the details about it remain unclear.
