Bulgaria is Perceived as an Attractive Tourist Destination

Bulgaria is perceived as an attractive tourist destination and has good positions in the region. This showed a study among a representative sample of five key tourism countries: Germany, Great Britain, Russia, Romania, and Serbia, done by Gallup International.

57% of the adult citizens of the five countries consider Bulgaria an attractive tourist destination and 27% answer negatively. Compared with other tourist countries in the region, Bulgaria ranks very close to Croatia (62% said it is an attractive destination) and Turkey (63%). Greece remains number one in the chart (81% positive answers), while Romania is with 46% and Serbia with only 43%.

Bulgaria is highly rated by the Romanians (71% positively appreciate the attractiveness of Bulgaria) and the citizens of Russia (66%), while the most disturbed are the Serbs -  48% say Bulgaria is attractive and 42 % think it is not.

Most of the people who took part in the survey were from Romania - 47% of those surveyed in the country (or nearly 10 million people), have visited Bulgaria. 24% were from Serbia, and 19% from Germany.

On the question, "How would you describe your general impressions of Bulgaria?" 80% of the answers about Bulgaria from the other five countries were positive. The Russians, Romanians, and the residents of the United Kingdom were most pleased with their visit.

Nearly 16 million Germans, 12 million British, and 13 million Russians have visited at least once Bulgaria which puts the country in a good position as a tourist destination.
